Certificate Complete... Now What?

Come on to MCC after completing your CCP certificate. You can prepare for a career or complete classes for transferring to a 4-year university. Read about the IT Department Chair's path through WMHS and MCC and the success of some of her students (opens in a new window). ARE YOU READY FOR THIS???

Are you ready for the challenges of college? Tour a course (opens in a new window) to find out. Take a look at the syllabus, calendar, and assignment guide. Most courses have a similar version of these documents. Can you meet the deadlines? Are you prepared for the challenge of academic rigor? Do you have at least three to five hours weekly to devote to each college course? Create a schedule. Audit your availability. It is YOUR responsibility to work hard and meet deadlines. You will not gain anything from college if you overcommit. It will cause unnecessary stress. Please take this opportunity SERIOUSLY! It will affect your permanent record and ability to enter competitive university programs later in life. It is NOT to be taken lightly. If you are not ready, please wait until you are. There is nothing wrong with waiting. Poor college grades cannot be "erased", and it is no small task to try to increase a low GPA.

Many students are in their second or third year at a costly university before they select a career. You can get a jump start on that right now in high school for FREE. If you like the IT courses, enroll at MCC after high school to complete an A.A.S. degree. Study hard, get certified, and get a job doing what you love. Or, maybe you will pursue a 4-year degree. MCC offers transfer programs, or you can go straight to a 4-year university to major in IT or a similar field. Perhaps you will discover that you do NOT want to pursue a career in IT. Good luck to you as you explore your options!
